Once you have gone from your 20s to your 30th birthday, you have new things on the horizon. While you may look forward to some of them, there are certain changes your body undergoes. Your skin starts to change as your 30s mark the time when you begin to produce less collagen. This means your skin will begin to age. As a result, you’ll want to change up your skincare routine.
What Skincare Should You Use in Your 30s?
Keeping in mind that your skin differs from when you were still in your 20s is the first beneficial step. Once you reach your 30s, your hormone levels begin to decrease. Your skin begins to produce less collagen and elastin. Generally speaking, the way you care for your skin will contribute to its aging process.
You may suddenly notice a few fine lines where you didn’t previously see them. Your skin may also suddenly be oily or dry once you reach your 30s. However, there are plenty of options available out there that can help to balance your skin and improve your complexion. It’s important to acknowledge that you can have great skin regardless of your age as long as you take proper care of it.
Stop Using Wipes
Although makeup-removing wipes are heavily marketed toward making it easier to remove your makeup, you should stop using them when you hit your 30s. They’re just not convenient once you’re past your 20s due to being too abrasive for the skin. One of their contents is also alcohol, which can be rough on your skin and disrupt its natural barrier.
Use a Gentle Cleanser
You will want to use a gentle product for cleansing your skin. Choose something that can address your particular issue. In other words, if you have always had oily skin, you should get a cleanser that’s meant to help with oily skin. The same goes for skin that’s dry. However, you will probably find that once you reach your 30s, whatever issue you had with your skin is slightly less. Your skin may be slightly less oily than it was in your 20s.
Avoid cleansers with high pH levels as they can be too harsh and irritate your skin. Use something gentle to preserve your skin’s natural barrier. You will want to choose something with a low pH level to find just the right balance in your skin.
Use Makeup to Your Advantage
While many women avoid using makeup on occasion to allow their skin to breathe, the reality is that makeup can protect your skin. For example, many makeup products contain SPF to protect the skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Some foundations and powders include SPF to give your skin an extra barrier of protection. Choose the type of makeup that’s appropriate for your skin type.
Use Eye Cream Regularly
You should use eye cream as part of your regular routine once you’re in your 30s. In many cases, the first area of the face that shows fine lines is around the eyes, also known as crow’s feet. To prevent your skin from visibly aging, use a good eye cream in the orbital bone area.
You should also start using anti-aging skin care products by the time you’re 30. This is a great way to prevent the signs of aging and keep your skin looking young and fresh. You should be able to find a good over-the-counter product such as RoC serum and use it three or four nights per week before switching to a prescription.
Moisturizer is a must-have skincare product in your 30s and beyond. It can provide your skin with moisture and nourish it to prevent dehydration and protect its natural barrier. It can also eliminate all of the grime and grit that gets into your skin when you’re out and about each day. Even if your skin is oily, you should use a good moisturizer.
